We have now sold out of the standard MUSL  However, we have a small quantity of a lightweight 24 speed limited edition which we refer to as MU SL24. You won’t find this bike anywhere else.  In our opinion this is the bike that Dahon ought to produce as a standard model. They have come closer in the 2008 range with the Mu P24 (sadly MU P24 is not coming into the UK anyway) but it’s still nowhere near as light as the model we offer, which weighs a mere 9.7 kilos !!  SEE DETAILS BELOWW

You won’t be able to stop smiling the first time you pick up and carry the Mu. At only 8.7 kilos (19.4 lbs), the Mu SL is the world’s lightest production folding bike. It incorporates everything Dahon know about making an ultra light and fast folding bike for all around use. Even better, they didn’t cut any corners on performance to achieve the really low weight. Patented Fusion technology and custom-drawn Sonus tubing add up to an incredibly stiff frame platform that makes the bike jump forward with each spin of the pedals. The Mu SL even gets a Syntace VRO adjustable handlepost so you can dial in your preferred riding position and ultra sensitive front suspension from the Kinetix Pro S front wheel for comfort. For 2007, they’ve upgraded the Mu SL to the hot new SRAM X9 derailleur and trigger shifter.

Dahon Mu SL24  Special Lightweight Edition - Limited Quantity

Beats the 2007 Dahon Speed Pro hands down on weight, style, rigidity and performance. There is not another bike that even compares to this one in the 2008 UK Dahon range.

Retaining all the great features and specification of the standard Mu SL with the added dimension of the widely admired Sram 3 X 8 gear system used on the Dahon Speed Pro.  We have specified this ‘head turner’ with a huge range of gears by using a wider ratio rear cassette than was used on Speed Pro or TT.  We have calculated this to equate to a range of 24.5” - 132” !!   This makes the bike extremely versatile and suitable for commuting and touring alike.  Mudguards, racks, etc can easily be fitted.  The rims are capable of mounting tyre sizes from the superfast foldable Schwalbe Stelvio 20 X 1 1/8” that are fitted as standard, to the Schwalbe Big Apple 20 x 2.0” though this may present a problem with mudguards if required.  We therefore recommend the Foldable Schwalbe Marathon Racer 20 x 1.50” as a good dual purpose tyre if you intend to engage in light off road use.  We also offer the 20 x 1.35” Schwalbe Marathon Plus which is very robust and offers double protection against punctures, a very sensible tyre for use ‘off the beaten track’ in some countries - but there is a slight weight penalty due to the rugged construction. The quick detachable pedal system, is also compatible with the MKS spd option (these can be supplied as an extra if required), so without tools you can swap between pedals according to your footwear on the day.

The Mu SL24 looks the same as the above pictures apart from the wheelset.  These are now Kinetix Comp with the Sram dual drive system on the rear, and a radial laced wheel with matching rim on the front (Pantour hub not fitted). Exact details below in the specification.

Important Customer Information

All Folding Bikes are thoroughly prepared and checked in the workshop in order to validate the warranties, this involves a thorough setup and adjustment of spokes, bearings, brakes, gears (stops and cable adjustment). The chainset and crank, handlebars and all nuts and bolts are checked for tightness and the pedals fitted. Finally the tyre pressures are set and the folding joints and all quick releases are lubricated and adjusted. After a brief test ride (mainly indoor) they are then carefully packed back into the original boxes using appropriate packaging, this means that the bikes when received and unfolded are ‘ready to ride’ .  All 26” wheel Dahon bikes arrive in the UK in boxes with the frame unfolded but the bike partially dismantled. We have taken the decision that in order to properly achieve our highest aim and that of the responsible manufacturers with whom we liase, that we therefore, properly prepare then fold the completed bike with only the handlebar removed, it is therefore necessary for us to repackage the bike accordingly on account of it’s larger size when assembled.
