S - type + 0.0g The S type is for many the prettiest Brompton, and with it’s Kevlar brake cables and high tensile alloy handlebar it’s also the lightest. The grips are light foam, and, at about 935mm from the ground, appreciably lower than on an M - type, and 50mm further forward. The ride position means that you can get well down out of wind, and enjoy the lively and positive feel of these bikes.
Front luggage for an S - type involves the use of a special S- type bag as there is no room under the handlebars for any of the full size luggage options.
The S - type is ideal for getting about in town, but as with any Brompton you can just as well use it for days out in the country. An S - type is also a sensible choice for smaller riders seeking lower bars.

A key feature of the Brompton is the compactness and practicality of its fold. With a little practice, this is achieved without any difficulty in 10 - 20 seconds. The dimensions of the folded bike are: 585mm high x 545mm long x 270mm wide (22.2" x 21.5" x 10.6").

When folded, a Brompton stays locked together, making it an extremely compact package. The folded package may be picked up without any risk that the bike will unfold, this is one of big plus points on a folding bike that you are likely to rush with onto a train.
There are no projections or loose parts with the folded package and, using the frame or the new saddle as a handle, it carries like a small suitcase, lightweight and easy to manage. The fold is designed to keep vulnerable parts, like cable-runs, out of harm's way and, by folding them in to the centre of the package, to keep the greasy chain and gears away from clothing and luggage. Small rollers allow the bike to be pushed into inaccessible corners. You also have the extra option of Eazy wheels, so the bike can be easily wheeled along when folded.

Just to whet your appetite, here is the wide range of colours available. We do not know where else you can get a choice like this from a leading Bicycle Brand apart from B-spoke frame builders. To top it all, the two standard colours are now Satin Black and Satin Red. this means that at no extra cost even with just two colours you can have 4 different combinations Black Frame with Black extremities (extremities refers to The front fork, handlebar stem, and rear swinging arm) Red/Red Red/Black and the rather attractive Black with Red extremities.

On all Bromptons, steel is used for the main frame and handlebar stem. The steel gives rigidity to the vital link between handlebar and pedals, which is the key to good handling. On a standard Brompton, the extremities are also made of steel, but on a Brompton with a superlight frame, the rear triangle and front forks are made of titanium the finish on these parts is therefore natural titanium , while an alloy headset and titanium seat pillar, mudguard stays, seat pillar and folding pedal-axle save more weight.(In line with the minimalist approach, no pump is fitted on the superlight models). Black or red colours are considered standard, and as such do not attract a surcharge; all other colour options, except Raw Lacquer (which has an £80.00 surcharge including extremities and main frame), have an additional £25.00 surcharge for the extremities and again £25.00 for the main frame.

All Folding Bikes are thoroughly prepared and checked in the workshop in order to validate the warranties, this involves a thorough setup and adjustment of spokes, bearings, brakes, gears (stops and cable adjustment). The chainset and crank, handlebars and all nuts and bolts are checked for tightness and the pedals fitted. Finally the tyre pressures are set and the folding joints and all quick releases are lubricated and adjusted. After a brief test ride (mainly indoor) they are then carefully packed back into the original boxes using appropriate packaging, this means that the bikes when received and unfolded are ‘ready to ride’ . All 26” wheel Dahon bikes arrive in the UK in boxes with the frame unfolded but the bike partially dismantled. We have taken the decision that in order to properly achieve our highest aim and that of the responsible manufacturers with whom we liase, that we therefore, properly prepare then fold the completed bike with only the handlebar removed, it is therefore necessary for us to repackage the bike accordingly on account of it’s larger size when assembled.
